Little Wing Music - St Agnes MMI

Little Wing Music

All singing, all dancing music sessions for under 5's and their grown-ups.

Little Wing Music is based in mid Cornwall. It was set up in 2016 to provide regular music sessions in pre-schools and nurseries and to run parent and child groups and provide entertainment at children's parties.

I am Joe Wollen and you can find out more about me by clicking here!

During the sessions we sing, clap, move and dance. I play my guitar and other instruments.  There are lots of instruments for children and adults to explore in both a free and guided way.  We sometimes experiment with exciting instruments like the synthesiser and electric guitar.  We play ring games, parachutes games, use puppets, soft toys and bubbles and there are quieter times.  We always go on a bear hunt!

The sessions are very interactive and the children are encouraged to express themselves by singing, dancing and helping to make the story or song.  Younger children and babies may be happiest sitting in their parents lap and enjoying all the sensory learning going on whilst playing with instruments or toys.  Not all children want to join in all the time and the children should feel free to do as much or as little as they want.

The children learn and develop in all sorts of ways during the sessions.  It is well recognised that music plays an important role in children's development, right from the very start.  As well as learning about rhythm, melody and language the children learn counting and co-ordination, and about the world around them. Perhaps most importantly of all they learn how music can be the start of beautiful friendships!  It is wonderful to see how children can grow in confidence every week.

We sing a mixture of traditional nursery rhymes and contemporary songs, along with my own compositions.  The children become familiar with the songs which they really enjoy, and there are also new ones being added all the time. I am always open to new ideas if you would like to share any!

The sessions are very much designed to be fun for the grown ups too.  It is good for all of us to sing and make a noise, and it’s a good chance to catch up with other parents with young children.

We have a lot of fun!
