St Agnes Community Cinema

NEXT SCREENING : The Bookshop on Monday 9th December

The MMI's St Agnes monthly Community Cinema Night opens it's doors at 7.00pm with the film starting at 7.30pm.

This month's showing is "The Bookshop" on Monday 9th December.

Florence Green (Emily Mortimer), a free-spirited widow, puts grief behind her and risks everything to open up a bookshop - the first in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough.  But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies as she invites the hostility of the town's less prosperous shopkeepers and also crosses the vengeful Mrs Gamart (Patricia Clarkson). Support and affection comes from a reclusive, book loving, widower (Bill Nighy). As a local power struggle arises Florence is forced to ask: is there a place for a bookshop in a town that may not want one?

The Bookshop is an elegant film of personal resolve tested in the battle for the soul of a community.

The bar is open from 7.00pm so refreshments can be purchased before the film starts. There is an interval in the film when drinks and ice-creams can be purchased at the bar. The finish time is usually around 9.30pm dependant on the length of the film.

Entry is by minimum donation of £4 with contactless or cash payment.

As there are limited seats entry will be on a first come first served basis.
