Terms and Conditions for MMI Legends Membership

Thank you for supporting The St Agnes Miners and Mechanics Institute (MMI) by joining MMI Legends. Your membership is a charitable donation that supports the long-term sustainability of our organisation, ensuring we can continue serving our community. By subscribing, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Purpose of MMI Legends Membership

• The MMI Legends membership is primarily a charitable donation to support the ongoing operation and development of MMI as a vital community resource.
• Your monthly donation is classified as a charitable contribution and is not intended as a payment in exchange for services.
• While members receive perks as a gesture of appreciation, these are subject to change and do not constitute a contractual entitlement.

2. Membership Perks

• A free drink at MMI-hosted events.
• A 10% discount at the Institute Café, applicable to the food and drinks of yourself and up to one companion.
• A 10% discount in the MMI Co-working space (“Workspace”).
• Discounts on selected groups and classes.

These perks are provided as a goodwill benefit and may be altered, suspended, or withdrawn at MMI’s sole discretion. Discounts, free drinks, and other benefits are strictly for the personal use of the member and, where applicable, their companion. They cannot be redeemed by others or applied retroactively.

3. Membership Payments

• Your chosen monthly membership fee will be collected via direct debit.
• As this is a charitable donation, all payments are non-refundable.
• By subscribing, you authorise MMI to collect the agreed payment amount each month until you cancel your membership.

4. Membership Cancellation

• Members may cancel their MMI Legends membership at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, with no further payments collected.
• To cancel your membership, please notify us via email at ben.jackson@stagnesmmi.co.uk or in writing to 18 Vicarage Road, TR5 0TL.

5. Tax Information

• As your membership payments are charitable donations, they may qualify for Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer. Gift Aid allows MMI to claim an additional 25p for every £1 donated at no cost to you.
• By opting into Gift Aid during sign-up, you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and have paid enough tax in the current tax year to cover the Gift Aid claimed on your donation.

6. General Terms

• MMI Legends is an informal membership programme designed to support the charity’s work. While we strive to maintain consistency in the benefits offered, operational needs or unforeseen circumstances may result in changes to perks or membership details.
• MMI reserves the right to amend or update these terms and conditions at any time. Members will be notified of significant changes through email.
• Membership perks have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded.

7. Limitation of Liability

• MMI will not be held liable for any failure or delay in providing perks due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control (e.g., event cancellations, venue closures).
• Nothing in these terms limits or excludes MMI’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

8. Data Protection

• By signing up for MMI Legends, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data in accordance with MMI’s Privacy Policy. Your information will only be used for purposes directly related to your membership and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.
